Clinical Supervision

I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) 'Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors’, and provide individual and group supervision for trainee and qualified clinical and counselling psychologists, and counsellors.

I have received formal training in both therapy-specific clinical supervision, and in generic/essential clinical supervision skills using a multi-modal approach.

A formal Supervision Agreement/Contract is negotiated with each new supervisee at the outset, and reviewed on a three-to six month basis, as appropriate, to ensure that the supervisee’s professional development, professional standards, and emotional support needs, are met. Supervision focusses on discussion of individual cases presented by the supervisee, and any related governance, professional, and supervisee support needs.

I offer clinic-based supervision sessions, and telephone and internet-based supervision using Skype and Facetime programmes.

Specialist Consultation for Care Providers

I also provide specialist consultation services to health and social care providers to help them recognise and address the emotional and psychological support needs of their vulnerable clients, especially those with complex health and social care issues. Specialist consultations focus on facilitating future care planning for specific individuals.

I have received professional training in specialist consultation approaches, which I have applied in clinical practice in multi-disciplinary teams and across a wide range of community care settings, including family homes, single tenancies, residential care, educational, and hospital settings.

Research Supervision

I am a former Visiting Fellow of both Essex University and the Tavistock Clinic, London, for whom I provided psychology doctorate training in research designs and research methods, and supervised doctorate research projects for clinical and counselling psychology doctorate students. I have also undertaken my own doctorate level service improvement-related research within the NHS.

Fees

I charge 50 an hour for clinical supervision of trainees - two-thirds my full rate of 75 for qualified psychologists and counsellors. Fees for research supervision, and for specialist consultations for care providers, are negotiated on an individual basis.
